Payment FAQ
Last updated: September 1, 2026
Answers to the most common questions about paying for ApiSorcery. For step-by-step billing operations (invoices, cancellations), see the Billing & Invoice Guide.
All checkout is operated by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Limited.
Cards and Payment Methods
My card was declined at checkout. Why?
The most common reasons:
- Bank blocked the charge as suspicious — international online payments are frequently flagged the first time. Call your bank or approve the charge in your banking app, then retry within 30 minutes.
- 3D Secure (3DS) failed — see the next question.
- Insufficient funds or the card is expired.
- Card not enabled for online / international purchases — ask your issuer to enable "internet transactions" or "international transactions".
If the same card is declined twice, try an alternative card or PayPal. Paddle does not receive a specific reason from your bank; retrying with a different method is usually faster than debugging with the original.
What is 3D Secure and why did it fail?
3D Secure (3DS) is an extra authentication step required by many card issuers under EU PSD2 and similar rules. You are typically redirected to your bank's page to confirm the payment via SMS code, banking-app push, or biometric approval.
3DS failures usually mean:
- The one-time code / push notification wasn't received or wasn't entered in time
- The authentication window (pop-up) was blocked or closed too early
- Your issuer does not support cross-border 3DS
Retry with pop-ups allowed, or use a different card / payment method.
Which cards are accepted?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal are also available in supported regions.
Can I pay with a card issued in mainland China?
Paddle accepts CN-issued cards technically, but many mainland-issued cards (especially debit cards) fail 3DS on cross-border merchants. If you are in mainland China, we recommend using apisorcery.cn which supports WeChat Pay directly.
Can I pay by bank transfer or wire?
Wire transfer is available for annual Team plans over a minimum threshold. Email support@apisorcery.com with the plan and seat count and we will coordinate with Paddle to issue a proforma invoice.
Currency, Prices, and Taxes
Why are prices shown in USD?
USD is the default reference currency. Paddle detects your location at checkout and shows the amount in your local currency where supported, using the current exchange rate. The USD list price is what we publish; your actual charge in local currency may differ slightly by exchange rate at the time of purchase.
Why did VAT / GST / sales tax get added at checkout?
Paddle is the merchant of record and is required to collect the correct VAT (EU / UK), GST (AU, NZ, IN, SG), or sales tax (US states) based on your billing country and, in the US, your billing state. The tax amount is shown on the checkout screen before you confirm and on the invoice.
If you have a valid VAT ID or business tax ID and are eligible for a reverse-charge exemption, enter it at checkout — Paddle will validate and adjust the tax line as required.
The price on the pricing page is USD. What currency am I actually charged in?
Whatever your card / bank uses. If Paddle offers your local currency, you can choose it at checkout; otherwise the charge is in USD and your bank converts at its own rate. The invoice records both.
Can I get a price without tax?
Business customers with a valid VAT / tax ID in a supported jurisdiction can have the tax reverse-charged at checkout by entering the ID. Individuals and consumers must pay tax where required by law.
Renewals and Cancellation
When does my subscription renew?
Monthly plans renew on the same day of the month as your first purchase. Annual plans renew on the anniversary of your first purchase. The renewal date is visible in the Paddle customer portal.
How do I cancel? Do I lose access immediately?
Cancel from Console → Account → Manage subscription. You keep paid access until the end of the current billing period you have already paid for. Cancellation does not automatically issue a refund — see the Refund Policy.
I was charged for a renewal I forgot about.
If the renewal was within the last 30 days and you have not used the new period, contact support@apisorcery.com — we generally accommodate involuntary renewals under the Refund Policy § 3.
Invoices and Receipts
Where is my invoice?
Paddle emails a PDF invoice for each successful charge (sender: paddle@paddle.com). You can also download every past invoice from the Paddle customer portal.
Can I add my company name and address to the invoice?
Yes. In the Paddle customer portal, edit your billing details before the next renewal. To edit an already-issued invoice, contact support@apisorcery.com with the invoice number.
Can I get a fapiao (发票)?
Chinese-style fapiao are issued only for purchases made on apisorcery.cn via WeChat Pay. Purchases via apisorcery.com receive a Paddle-issued international invoice, which is not a fapiao and cannot be exchanged for one.
Refunds and Disputes
How do I get a refund?
Email support@apisorcery.com from the account address with your order or transaction ID. See the Refund Policy for full eligibility.
What if I already filed a chargeback with my bank?
Please email us first — most disputes are resolved faster directly than via a chargeback. If a chargeback is already open, we may need to respond to it through Paddle rather than issue a separate refund.
Security
Is my card data safe?
We never see or store your card number. Card data is entered directly into Paddle's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant checkout, which tokenizes the card at the payment network. ApiSorcery receives only the transaction ID, plan, and non-sensitive billing metadata.
The charge on my statement says "PADDLE.NET". Is this legitimate?
Yes. Paddle is our merchant of record; charges appear as PADDLE.NET or Paddle * ApiSorcery on card statements. See paddle.net to look up any charge.
